Power facilities targeted in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have caused power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Several individuals were injured while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and faced disruption to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, based on information from regional authorities.

Russian forces has intensified attacks on electrical systems over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "real steps" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not window dressing but firm measures - from the US, the EU and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," mentioned in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 projectiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were striving to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes hit energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, per statements from municipal representatives.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the national power system, with assaults already affecting gas facilities.
